LIFT GATE CONVEYOR SECTION
Add a Lift Gate Conveyor to your Production Line to Easily Access the Interior of your Operations
Streamlining operations and improving accessibility on the production floor is essential for maximizing efficiency. Span Tech’s Conveyor Lift Gate offers a versatile solution, providing easy access across conveyor lines without compromising productivity.
When personnel or equipment require access to the interior of an area of your facility that is blocked by a conveyor system, a functional lift gate conveyor section can be the solution. Our conveyor lift gate is a counter-weighted or spring-loaded conveyor section, hinged to allow it to be raised and lowered as needed. The lift gate conveyor is designed to safely remain in the “up” position after being raised, until it is intentionally lowered. Our gate conveyor section can be slave-driven from the preceding conveyor, if desired.
It can be equipped with a sensor to recognize when the conveyor is lifted to shut down the rest of the line that is feeding the lift gate section.

Ease of Access
The Lift Gate Conveyor is lightweight and easy to lift, providing quick access without needing mechanical assistance.
Customizable Design
Tailored to your needs, the Lift Gate can be adjusted in width, length, and configuration for seamless integration into your system.
Minimal Workflow Disruption
The conveyor stops automatically when the gate is lifted and resumes smoothly when closed, keeping productivity high.

“It made our life a whole lot simpler and easier” when speaking about EZGUIDE Adjustable Guiderail

SpanTech’s EZGuide rail system has greatly improved change over times on our bottle filling line. We fill a wide range of bottle sizes and styles. The EZGuide system makes it easier and quicker to adjust between larger and smaller containers. One great feature is the lack of protruding rods from the sides of the conveyors. We are looking at installing this rail system on more filling lines in the near future.

I feel like Span Tech offered us more diversity, custom conveyors, especially for the products that we run and how we run them.

The sales and service personnel at Span Tech are always very professional and helpful throughout the entire process, from design phase, quoting, order processing and delivery of equipment. Quality equipment, professional service and knowledgeable personnel are why Arr-Tech’s choice for conveyor systems will always be Span Tech.

Paradise Tomato Kitchen has used Span Tech conveyors for our sanitary food pouch conveying systems for many years. These sanitary conveyors have provided the best cost of ownership, or the lowest net present value, of any processing conveyors we have used in our food manufacturing plants. These conveyors are easy to widen, lengthen or design for curves and angles to convey our flexible pouches between unit operations.

The quality of this product speaks for itself. Where the difference lies is in the quality of the organization. The whole Span Tech organization – Sales, Engineering, Service – works to serve customers’ needs, not just sell conveyors.
FAQs About Lift Gate Conveyors
What Is A Lift Gate Conveyor, And How Does It Work?
A lift gate conveyor is a specialized conveyor section hinged to raise and lower as needed, creating a temporary passageway across an otherwise continuous conveyor line. Span Tech's conveyor lift gate uses a counter-weighted or spring-loaded mechanism that allows the section to be lifted manually with minimal effort. Once raised, the gate is designed to remain safely in the "up" position until intentionally lowered, ensuring no accidental drops or workflow interruptions. An optional integrated sensor can automatically shut down the feeding line when the lift gate is raised, protecting both personnel and product flow.
Can A Gate Conveyor Section Be Added To My Existing Conveyor System?
Yes. Span Tech's gate conveyor sections are engineered for seamless integration into both new and existing conveyor systems. The lift gate conveyor system can be slave-driven from the preceding conveyor section, meaning it operates in sync with your current line without requiring a separate drive. It's also fully customizable in width, length, and configuration to match the specifications of your existing setup, minimizing installation complexity and downtime.
How Does A Conveyor Lift Gate Improve Safety On The Production Floor?
A conveyor lift gate improves production floor safety by creating a controlled, designated access point across a conveyor line, eliminating the need for workers to climb over or walk around equipment. Span Tech's lift gate conveyor includes a counterbalance mechanism that prevents sudden drops during operation, reducing the risk of injury. When equipped with a sensor, the system automatically halts the upstream conveyor line whenever the gate is raised, ensuring no product or personnel hazards occur during crossings. This makes the lift gate conveyor a compliance-friendly solution for facilities with strict OSHA or industry-specific safety standards.
What Should I Consider When Specifying A Conveyor Lift Gate For My Facility?
When selecting a conveyor lift gate, the key factors to evaluate are the width of the opening needed for personnel or equipment to pass through, the load capacity required to match your existing line, and whether a counter-weighted or spring-loaded mechanism best suits your usage frequency and operator needs. You'll also want to determine whether the gate conveyor section should be slave-driven from the preceding conveyor or independently controlled. Span Tech works with you to configure the right lift gate dimensions, drive setup, and sensor options, so the section integrates cleanly with your existing system from day one.
How Does A Lift Gate Conveyor System Affect Overall Line Productivity?
A properly integrated lift gate conveyor system has minimal impact on overall line productivity. Because the section can be slave-driven from the preceding conveyor, it maintains the same speed and timing as the rest of your line when closed. When lifted, the automatic sensor option shuts down only the relevant upstream section, not the entire system, so the rest of your production continues uninterrupted. For high-frequency access points, this means a lift gate conveyor delivers the access your team needs without creating a bottleneck or requiring a full line stop.
